Entrambi i pacchetti ammettono candidamente la propria origine, almeno
stando alle descrizioni dei pacchetti deb che ho prelevato da
synaptic.

Yet Another Kuake, KDE terminal emulator
YaKuake is inspired from the terminal in the Quake game: when you press a key
(by default F12, but that can be changed) a terminal window slides down from
the top of the screen. Press the key again, and the terminal slides back.

Linux terminal which behaves like terminals in shooter games
Tilda is a Linux terminal taking after the likeness of many classic
terminals from first person shooter games, Quake, Doom and Half-Life to name
a few, where the terminal has no border and is hidden from the desktop till
a key or keys is hit.
