[MontelLUG] Fedora e gli stati canaglia

Ciao,

stasera decido di scaricarmi l'ultima beta di Fedora 13, giusto per
vedere come vanno i driver nouveau col 3D, e in fondo alla pagina noto
le "Export regulations": in pratica si tratta della solita tiritera
sui software prodotti negli Stati Uniti per via di una legge fatta da
Bush dopo l'11 settembre che dice che informazioni o strumenti
tecnologici ritenuti "sensibili" non possono essere esportati negli
stati sospettati di avere a che fare col terrorismo. Al di là del
ridicolo insito chiedere a un terrorista o a un cittadino di un tal
paese per favore di non scaricare quel software messo bello bello su
Internet, mi sono chiesto che che senso possa avere tanto più per un
software libero, e se questa restrizione non sia una violazione della
GPL. Primo perché la GPL dice chiaramente che chiunque deve poter
accedere al software sotto GPL, secondo perché anche se Red Hat ha
sede negli Stati Uniti, non è Red Hat a detenere il copyright di tutto
il software che compone Fedora, e molti sviluppatori dei pacchetti
Open Source non sono cittadini americani e non vivono lì... M d'altro
canto noi viviamo nel paese in cui si voleva fare il backup di
Internet, per cui forse non siamo i più adatti a sviscerare simili
contraddizioni... :-)
