In modalità live ti partiva?
Se ti andava prima non può essere incompatibile.
Cmq c'è scritto: Kernel 2.6.28 required.
Prova ad installare un kernel più recente.

Cercando:
(EE) intel(0): [drm] Failed to detect GEM. Kernel 2.6.28 required.

mi pare che la soluzione sia proprio quella di aggiornare il kernel.
Non sono più pratico del comando apt / aptitude, magari qualcuno in lista
che usa ubuntu può aiutarti a forzare l'installazione di quella versione.
