A parte il consiglio di David di passare ad ATI, che è una buona idea ma non è 
open source, la frase "build for more than CONFIG_M386=y" significa che stai 
compilando per una architettura diversa dal 386, che per ragioni di 
compatibilità è quella di default. Ma non capisco come questo possa essere un 
problema. Se il tuo processore è di classe Pentium III non dovresti aver 
problemi compilando i586 o i686. L'errore che hai indicato l'altra volta 
ricorre anche in questa mail (che mi pare tratta da un forum, giusto?). Stando 
a quello che ho visto sul sito Kyro dovresti scaricare l'ultima versione dei 
driver, l'hai fatto? Che versione di gcc hai (per saperlo digita il comando 
gcc -v su un terminale)? Se è recente (3.3.X) devi aggiornare il driver 
all'ultima versione o editare a mano il sorgente del driver: vedi quale ti 
pare più comodo...
